Being married to Loki Laufeyson has its ups and downs. Of course any self-respecting woman who could have even the most minimal understanding of logic or sensibility would know that.

And for (Name), she was one of the smartest and most logical, realistic person any of the Avengers had met. So she was full well aware of what she was getting into when she said “yes” to the Asgardian prince and gave herself to him with a ring, a vow and a steamy honeymoon.

It’d barely been a week since they’d come back to the Avengers Tower since then, and Tony, Pietro and Clint were still messing with her and Loki, teasing them about their lovely romantic month in Tahiti (Coulson had suggested it because it was a “magical place”), and every so often the trio ended up with a punch in the face, a kick in the gut or a warning shot fired near their heads.

They got the message fairly well, but being the idiots they were they still liked to poke fun at them from afar.

However the morning was fairly quiet when (Name) woke up this fateful day, no Clint or Tony snickering outside the room at the bar or a Pietro zipping around and snapping pictures of them sleeping, making ridiculous jokes neither of them appreciated.

It was always nice waking up to a peaceful morning, and she hummed as she stretched, feeling incredibly well-rested and wide awake. Peaceful morning meant peaceful day, most of the time. And this was one of those days, right?

A smile broke onto her face and she was about to reach over and wake up her husband (he never seemed to wake up on time unless she did it), when suddenly her stomach lurched. Immediately she froze, but not a second longer before jumping off the bed and rushing for the bathroom, feeling last night’s dinner and lunch making its way back up her stomach.

She barely made it to the toilet before the floodgates were opened.

And such was the sound Loki woke up to, a glorious thing. The sound of his wife retching was never a particularly pleasant thing to listen to. At the moment he was still groggy, and he groaned as he shifted under the duvet, removing his arms from the pillow and turning to sit up, rubbing at his eyes tiredly.

“Mmn…(Name)? Darling, are you alright?” He asked her sleepily, but instead of receiving a proper response, he was met with more throwing up in the bathroom. Who knew the restroom had such lovely acoustics?

As if by instinct Loki was out of the bed and hurried to the room, disregarding his shirtlessness and opened the door quickly, taking his place by her side and holding her hair away from her face, waiting patiently for her to finish her...business.

“Ugh...Loki…I don’t feel so good.” She mumbled hoarsely, her voice froggy from the burning pain in the back of her throat. He nodded in understanding, pressing a cool hand to her forehead as he searched for a temperature. (Name) leaned into his touch, still panting and recovering from the brief excursion with the loo.

“You don’t feel particularly warm, (Name). Although you were still throwing up, which means you’re sick regardless.” He gathered, and then took her up into his arms, carrying her bridal style from the bathroom adjoined to the bedroom and nestled her onto their bed, covering her back up with the duvet once again.

“Loki, can you go get me some, uh...c-can you get me some water please? My throats killing me.” She told him with an almost childlike whine, but he only smiled warmly at her, brushing strands of hair away from her face.

“Of course, dear. If you’re willing to wait a moment I’ll be right back.” He promised her, and she nodded tiredly, her face scrunched up in pain. He glanced at her a moment longer before disappearing from the room, grabbing a t-shirt to cover up before he walked into the kitchen area of the floor.

Tony and Pietro were already there (naturally), one of them downing a shot of scotch and the other lazily skimming over the newspaper. Steve was cooking a little ways from the duo, apparently for the three of them. Because two-thirds of them were quite lazy despite their skills.

“Well look who’s up bright and early. Didn’t think we’d see you out so soon, Reindeer Games.” Tony greeted him, which he ignored, opting instead for a glass cup and then taking it to the dispenser, filling it with water.

“Heeey, what’s up, Broki?” Pietro said lazily, a mischievous grin on his face. Loki paused from his work then, turning to face the newest Avenger with an icy glare.

“What did you just call me?”

“I called you Broki, Broki. Problem?” Pietro replied, and Loki had to refrain from pelting the man with ice shards.

“Why, pray tell, would you even think it a good idea to call me that?”

“Becaaaaause, you’re my bro, man. And your name’s Loki. Bro plus Loki equals Broki. Do the math, man.” He explained, the grin growing when he noticed the prince’s irriatation.

“Alright, first of all? I am not your brother. Therefore you will not refer to me as ‘bro’. Understood? And furthermore, if I hear you calling me ‘Broki’ again, I promise you, you will have a more painful death than that of a snail who has salt poured on it. Do you understand?” Loki threatened, but Pietro only chuckled, holding his hands up in surrender. Loki’s death stare lingered on him a moment longer before he turned, heading back towards his room. That is, before a certain elder brother burst into the room.

“Good morning, my friends!!” Thor boomed as he walked in, his expression bright and cheery as per the norm. Loki only sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose as he wondered what exactly he was doing surrounded by a group of idiots.

“Mornin’, Thor! Nice to see you’re up early, too.” Tony commented, and the prince smiled in response, heading straight for the bag of marshmallows that awaited him in his personal food cabinet. Which was loaded with s’mores flavored Pop-Tarts and Peeps. Not to mention about two dozen other bags of marshmallows.

It was an addiction, Loki had decided.

“Brother! What brings you here at such a young time in the day?” Thor asked his brother, striding up to him and clapping a hand on his shoulder, causing some of the water to spill onto the floor.

“I believe my wife has fallen ill, and she requested water. Much to my dismay, I decided to be a decent husband and get some for her.” Loki explained bluntly, and made a move to exit before being stopped by Thor, the man’s commanding grip turning him back around.

“What do you mean, she’s fallen ill? Has something happened to her?” Thor questioned him seriously, catching the attention of the three idiots behind them. Well, minus Steve of course.

“No, nothing has happened. She only threw up a few times this morning. I’m going to take care of her, you don’t need to worry.” Loki reassured him, but was cut off by the sight of his wife walking into the room herself, taking the glass from his hand and plopping down next to Tony on a bar stool.

“G’morning, everyone.” She greeted them, her voice still scratchy thanks to her previous endeavor. Loki was immediately on the defensive.

“(Name), what are you doing out of bed?? You’re unwell and I don’t want you up and around when you could throw up again!” Loki scolded her. Instead of moving though, she only shrugged, gulping down the glass of water.

“Sorry love, but my throat hurt and you were taking too long to bring me the water. Besides, I don’t feel sick anymore anyways.” She countered, but Loki wouldn’t have it. In a single instant he teleported behind her, took her by the shoulders and teleported again, this time into their bedroom and back under the covers. Immediately she was protesting.

“Now now, (Name). You’re unwell and I don’t care what you think you feel, but I don’t want to risk you getting even more sick because you’re moving around.” He told her, and she fell silent, a pout playing on her lips. He was currently next to her, his hands pressing her down onto the mattress to make sure she stayed put.

“There. Now will you stay put and not try to get away?” He asked her, knowing full well that it wouldn’t be the first time. She’d been quarantined to the room one day and long story short she’d escaped several times throughout the afternoon and wreaked havoc on the Tower.

She was sleep-walking, after all.

“Mm...fine. But on one condition.” She decided, and he looked at her, quirking an eyebrow with an amused smile.

“Oh? And what might that be?”

“You have to get me the blanket Thor gave me for our anniversary.”

And just like that the smile was gone.

“What? Why would I do that, you know how I feel about that blanket!”

“You’re just jealous because I liked his present more than yours.”

“I gave you a kitten, how could a fluffy pink blanket possibly be better than a kitten??”

“The kitten ran away after it scratched me in the face. Remember that?”

“...You do have a point. But I’m still not going to get it for you.” He said with an end-of-discussion tone. But then he locked eyes with her.

And immediately regretted it.

“But Loki...I thought you loved me!”

“What? Of course I love you, dearest, that’s why I married you.”

“B-But I asked you to get me the blanket and you won’t!” She responded, her eyes brimming with unforseen tears. Loki, being Loki, felt a sliver of panic when he realized she might cry because of him. Abruptly he stood, heading for the door.

“Alright, alright! I’ll get you the stupid blanket. Just don’t cry, okay?” He caved, and almost instantaneously her mood lifted, and he left to the sound of her cheering. Loki grumbled to himself as he walked back into the kitchen area, once again left with the boys, plus Thor who was happily munching on a new bag of marshmallows, which was now half empty. The man could eat his marshmallows, that’s for sure.

“Hmm, sounds like Loki’s having some wife problems, don’t you think Pete?” Tony mused, making them both chuckle. Said man growled, blocking them both out and ripping the pink blanket from the basket that lay hidden underneath one of the couches, so Loki wouldn’t have to stare at it and seethe with jealousy every time he wanted to watch a movie with (Name).

“Nah, I don’t think it’s wife problems. I think it’s pregnancy problems.” Pietro observed, causing everyone around him to freeze.

“What do you mean...pregnancy?” Loki demanded quietly, his gaze locking with the man dangerously. Pietro just shrugged, returning to his coffee with a knowing smirk.

“Well, it could just be speculation, but if I didn’t know any better I’d say she’s pregnant.”

“And how do you know? It’s hardly been 15 minutes since we woke up. You couldn’t possibly have all the signs in just that much time.”

“Oh, please. I’m the fastest thing on the planet. Besides, it’s fairly obvious. She was sick and threw up when she woke up, but a couple minutes later she was fine. And seeing as the door to the bedroom’s open over there, we could hear her go from angry to sad to extremely happy. SO, I’m making the guess that your wife’s pregnant with your baby.” Pietro concluded. Loki was absolutely speechless, his grip loosening on the pink, fluffy blanket at the thought.

“You mean I’m...I’m going to be a...a father?” He whispered, and Tony nodded, causing Thor to laugh loudly and clap his hands together.

“Congratulations, Brother! What a glorious day!”

“Yeah, how ‘bout that; Lokimotion banged up his wife before I did!”

“We should celebrate, Broki! Where should we go?”

“...”

“Uh...Broki?”

Thud.

“Aaaand he’s out.”

“Well, that sucks. Now what’re we gonna do?”

“...Draw on his face?”

“Oh, c’mon Pietro. That’s so immature and childish!”

“And?”

“I love it. Let’s do it.”

And so began Loki’s lovely life as a father-to-be. Unconscious, drawn on, and carrying the blanket that he absolutely despised while his wife sat impatiently in the bedroom, already plotting her escape.

Oh, joy.
